R&D Center

Since the establishment of the KYPC R&D center, in 2005, the engineers of KYPC have been constantly working on the research and development of turbocharger design, manufacture, and inspection.

With the support of the government and cooperation of our customers, we have completed our own turbocharger design technique and inspection methods for performance tests. Our currently manufactured turbochargers validate such experiences and expertise. Furthermore, we constantly pay attention to advanced technology research, test inspection development, manufacturing equipment improvement, and new material development. We believe technological competency is the core strategy to become a global company.

Turbocharger technology development

  • Wheel performance/efficiency improvement
  • Rotor system(bearing) improvement
  • Turbocharger downsizing and weight reduction
  • High thermal material research
  • New turbocharger technology research

Gasbench Test

The Gasbench combusts natural gas to investigate the performance and durability of turbochargers in the same conditions as high temperature exhaust gas from an engine.

  • Measurement of Turbocharger Performance Compressor Map, Turbine Map
  • Turbocharger Rig Test Wheel : Low Cycle Fatigue, Over Speed Bearing System : Low Pressure Test, Shaft motion, Low Oil Pressure Test Housing : Thermal Shock, Containment

Engine Dynamometer Test

Analyze the performance and function of a turbocharger when applied to an actual engine, and also its influence on the engine.

  • Evaluate engine performance Response, output, torque, fuel efficiency, and basic engine performance Full overload and partial overload
  • Evaluate engine endurance test Full overload endurance performance Thermal shock endurance test

Engine Dyno, Bench Performance Test

N.V.H.(Noise Vibration Harshness)

Identify, analyze, and evaluate causes of turbocharger issues related to noise and vibration.

  • Anechoic room, gas bench, engine noise tests Analyze causes of turbocharger noise Analyze noise level at early stages of development, secure stability through improvements
